You are looking at the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway in Newark where this two-car crash near exit 144 -Irvington border- had one of the vehicles explode a short time ago.
The incident happened just before 2 p.m. sending emergency responders to the scene where crews swiftly knocked down the flames that engulfed both vehicles.
A preliminary investigation indicated that one of the vehicles apparently rear-ended the other which caused the initiating car to explode.
There are no immediate reports of serious injuries reported at this time.
Expect substantial delays in the northbound lanes of the Parkway.
