Police are reporting grave injuries for one of two victims found shot in a section of Newark’s West Ward this evening.
Authorities said at approximately 8 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired on Mount Vernon Place, where officers arrived to find multiple shell casings and two victims suffering bullet wounds at that location.
Police officials requested officers from other precincts and Essex County Sheriff's officers to assist with an unruly crowd disturbing the crime scene.
The gunman ran from the neighborhood and is at large.
Police have a crime scene established and an investigation underway.
