In the second shooting of the evening in Jersey City, we are receiving reports of injuries after a police officer discharged his weapon at a location in the city a short time ago.
There isn't a lot of official information on this, but according to preliminary reports, gunfire erupted in the vicinity of 144 Orient Avenue at approximately 10 p.m. sending a swarm of police officers and emergency responders to the scene where they found the victim suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen at that location.
The victim is being transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries at this time.
The extent of the victim's injuries is only reported as critical but stable. There are no reports of officers injured by gunfire.
Avoid the area for the active police investigation.
