BREAKING JERSEY CITY: Gunman Fires Shots at Police in Jersey City

There is heavy police activity in a neighborhood in Jersey City as officers search the area for a gunman who reportedly opened fire on several police officers late Thursday morning.

Jersey City officials have not released information regarding the circumstances of the shooting but according to preliminary reports, at around 11:30 a.m., an unidentified gunman fired shots in the direction of officers in the vicinity of 126 Rutgers Avenue.

EMS arrived at the scene and transported three officers to the hospital suffering minor injuries but it is not clear if any of the officers actually suffered gunshot injuries.

As police officers were responding to the scene, a police cruiser crashed at Communipaw Avenue and Grand Street. No injuries were reported.

At this time, there are no reports of arrests or if the officers returned fire on the suspect.

**JCPD STATEMENT:**

”At approximately 11:15 a.m. today, JCPD responded to a report of possible drug activity. Officials say there police officers responded, including two officers on a nearby antiviolence walking post at the time.

Upon investigation, a weapon was produced by a male and discharged at the corner of Rutgers and McAdoo Avenues.

The 32-year-old male, Mr. Jamel Bolden, was immediately arrested.

The three officers suffered minor injuries during a brief struggle with Mr. Bolden, who is expected to be charged with resisting arrest among other charges”.
