Over 15 rounds of gunfire in a section of Newark’s South Ward has police on the scene with a man struck multiple times and is now fighting for his life.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., a ShotSpotter device activated in the vicinity of 147 Clinton Avenue prompting a police investigation.
Units arrived and found an unidentified male suffering multiple gunshot wounds at that location.
The victim was administered CPR at the scene and was last listed in “grave” condition.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office was notified of the shooting.
