The Essex County Prosecutor's Office is on the scene of a shooting with one male victim dead in a section of Newark’s North Ward at this time.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of Broadway near Montclair Avenue before 3 p.m.
Units arrived and found an unidentified male suffering a bullet wound in his head at that location.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to reports.
Police have the area taped off while detectives investigate the shooting
No arrests have been reported.
