BREAKING: Four Arrested for Violent Armed Robbery, Stabbing Spree in Newark

Newark

Police arrested four suspects and charged them with armed robbery and aggravated assault after a violent spree of robberies in Newark Thursday morning.

Most of the robberies happened before 10:15 a.m. in the city's East Ward, where the suspects randomly chose women and others then robbed and stabbed at least one during the interactions.

Essex County Sheriff's Department officers, Irvington Police and Newark Police officers caught up with the suspects and attempted to pull their vehicle over in the West Ward around noon.

It was observant Irvington Police units who spotted the vehicle in their town then alerted Newark and Essex Sheriff’s Department.

Police say the assailants entered the Garden State Parkway's northbound lanes then ailed from the vehicle leading police on a pursuit through the graveyard near South Orange Avenue and Maybaum.

Officers captured two males and two females, who all appeared to be juveniles, after a foot chase.

No officers were injured in the pursuit.
