BREAKING: Fire Causes Building to Collapse in Newark's West Ward

Firefighters from several Essex County municipalities are on the scene of a fire that erupted in Newark's West Ward this afternoon. 

At approximately 4:45 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the intersection of South Orange and Cedar avenues to investigate reports of a fire. 

Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames engulfing a building at 767 South Orange Avenue. 

According to on-scene reports, fire officias struck a second alarm after flames extended to building 765. 

Officials said the main fire building collapsed after about 20 minutes into the fire. One person was treated by EMS after jumping from one of the buildings. 

As of 5:20, officials have not declared the fire under control and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
