There is a homicide investigation underway for a shooting victim found inside an Essex County Park a short time ago.
The Essex County Sherrif's Office responded to reports of shots fired that erupted inside the Vailsburg Park at around 6:45 p.m. where they arrived to find an unconscious and unresponsive person suffering a gunshot wound to the head.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are on the scene handling the investigation at this time.
There is a crime scene established near the intersection of Vailsburg Terrace at Linden Avenue.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
