BREAKING ELIZABETH: Multi-Alarm Fire Tears Through Elizabeth Night Club

Elizabeth

There were no injuries reported in a multi-alarm fire that damaged a Union Country night club late Saturday night.

According to officials, firefighters battled heavy fire that tore through the Barcode Night Club located at 429 North Broad Street in Elizabeth just before 11:35 p.m.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found flames extending from the building to a neighboring auto body shop promoting them to activate a second then third alarm.

A swift response by Elizabeth fighters had crews knock down the bulk of the fire in under a half-hour with a physical search of the establishment coming back negative for trapped or injured occupants.

Barcode employees used a garden hose to extinguish some flames before firefighters arrived at the scene.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation and has not been confirmed by Elizabeth Fire officials.

This is the 4th multiple alarm fire in the city this week according to Elizabeth NJ Fire Officers IAFF Local 2040.
