A building occupied by a daycare center in East Orange that was filled with young children caught fire and forced an immediate evacuation of students and staff this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, fast thinking professional staff at the Three Stages Early Childhood Center located at 25 Evergreen Place orderly gathered up all of the children and escorted them out of the building after smoke began to fill the structure at approximately 2 p.m rapidly.

East Orange Firefighters rushed to the scene and found smoke billowing from the roof of the brick-faced building with some flames shooting high above.
Crews were able to extinguish the blaze in less than a half hour with the cause of the fire under investigation.
Besides some understandably nervous and frantic parents that ran to the scene, thankfully, there were no physical injuries reported.
