Police are on the scene of a shooting with one person dead in Newark’s North Ward.
According to a preliminary investigation, police were called to the area of Clifton and Bloomfield avenues to investigate reports of shots fired that rang out around 1 p.m.
When units arrived at the scene, they found one person suffering a fatal gunshot wound at that location.
Police are currently trying to locate a crime scene after residents reported that two vehicles arrived in the area and began exchanging gunfire.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are on the scene leading the investigation.
