NJ State Police Troopers are on the scene of a crash with fatal injuries reported on a highway in Passaic County at this time.
A preliminary investigation indicated that police were notified of a crash in the northbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway near exit 159 Clifton/Elmwood Park.
Troopers arrived and closed all lanes after they found several severely injured individuals ejected from a crash vehicle just before 5:50 a.m.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and EMS was requested to rush to the scene for other injuries.
Commuters are urged to take an alternate route as the investigation is expected to extend into the morning rush hour with two lanes closed and massive delays are currently building.
