Authorities in Union County are currently probing into a catastrophic collision that occurred in Elizabeth early Sunday morning, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.
The incident unfolded just before 5:50 am at the intersection of Route 1&9 (Spring Street) and Grand Street, known for its dangerous traffic conditions.
Preliminary reports indicate that police, fire, and emergency medical services were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, they encountered an awful sight: two vehicles had been involved in a severe crash.
Tragically, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
In addition to the fatality, four other individuals were injured in the accident. They have been transported to local hospitals, where they are receiving treatment for various injuries, some of which are critical.
As of now, the investigation into the cause of the wreck is in its initial stages.
