An unconscious and unresponsive young child was rushed to University Hospital after emergency responders pulled the child out of a Newark North Ward lake this evening.
Details regarding the incident are pending an investigation but at approximately 6:30 p.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the Branch Brook Park lake after learning of a possible drowning.
Medical personnel began CPR on the child who is around 4-years-old. The victim was rushed to the hospital with police escorting.
The investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
No other victims were reported.
UPDATE 8 p.m. : County officials told us that the incident is non-fatal at this time.
