Firefighters in Jersey City battled a multi-alarm fire that erupted inside a home near a highway in the city Monday morning. '
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 1:22 a.m, firefighters raced to the scene of a fire at 237 Terrace Avenue.
Upon arrival, crews began to stretch multiple lines after finding a fully involved car fire inside an attached garage that tore through the walls of the home then rapidly extended to neighboring homes.
Officials say two victims were removed from the original fire building then transported to the hospital, suffering unspecified injuries.
Fire officials at the scene struck as many as four alarms as fire spread to at least three other homes.
At approximately 2:40 a.m., the fire was placed under control with the cause under investigation.
16 Adults and four children has been displaced by the fire.
