The New Jersey State Police are currently investigating a crash that killed three people during a multi-vehicle crash that occurred on the northbound lanes of Interstate 287 in Bernards Township, at milepost 29.1, at 10:32 p.m.
The following is preliminary information only. This is currently an on-going investigation at the crash scene.
-There were at least three vehicles involved, including a pick-up truck with a trailer containing cows, a passenger car, and a multi-passenger van
-19 people involved (Preliminary)
-3 deceased out of 19
-2 DOA
-5 transported to Morristown Memorial where 3rd victim pronounced and 2 with serious injuries, but in stable condition
-9 transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Somerset with non-life-threatening injuries
-2 transported to Overlook Hospital in Summit with non-life-threatening injuries
-1 refused medical treatment at the scene
-Some cows deceased, others transported from scene
The roadway is currently closed with traffic being detoured off of exit 26. Expect partial and total closures during the next few hours due to the investigation and cleanup.
