A large physical altercation that occurred inside a Newark magnet school had a security officer injured and a juvenile student taken into custody.
According to a statement released by Newark Police officials, the fight broke out amongst several individuals inside the University High School at approximately 11:45 a.m. sending multiple police units to the scene where they took a student into custody after he reportedly engaged in the fight.
RLS Media arrived at the scene and observed EMS assisting in the incident where police said a security guard suffered non-life threatening injuries while attempting to break the fight up.
The school was placed on a shelter in place status until administrators were able to gain control of the situation according to officials.
The incident remains under investigation.
There were no other serious injuries reported.
