The Ricardo J. Barbosa Foundation has launched its 3rd Annual Book Bag Drive to support Newark students and families, particularly those from five schools where Officer Barbosa worked and the area that he served his entire police career with distinction and compassion.

As the school year comes to a close, the organization is getting an early start on collecting essential supplies to help children prepare for the upcoming academic year. The drive will continue until August 2, 2025.
According to a flyer released by the foundation, they are requesting donations of the following items:
- Bookbags
- #2 pencils
- Pens
- Pencil pouches or cases
- Notebooks
- Erasers
- Crayons
- Glue sticks
Officer Ricardo J. Barbosa was deeply loved throughout Newark, especially in the Ironbound neighborhood, where he dedicated his life to serving and protecting.
This book bag drive honors his legacy by providing much-needed assistance to the families he served so faithfully.
Community members who would like to donate school supplies are encouraged to contact Jessica Barbosa at 862-227-2447 for drop-off location information.
