There were no reports of foul play after police found the body of an unidentified person inside a bathroom at a coffee shop in Downtown Newark this evening.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to the Starbucks that's located in the 600 block of Broad Street after receiving reports of suspicious activities.
Units arrived at the coffee shop where they entered the bathroom and found an unconscious and unresponsive person according to reports.
Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene reports said.
Although The State Regional Medical Examiners Officer will determine the official cause of the person’s death, police do not believe that anything suspicious occurred.
It is not clear how long the person was inside the bathroom before they were found.
**UPDATED 10:17 am 5/24/2018:** Shortly after 10 p.m., police responded to the coffee shop on a call of a sick and injured person. Employees reported that a man had entered the restroom and did not exit nor respond to employees’ calls concerning his wellbeing. The officers, along with members of EMS, discovered the man inside the bathroom, but were unable to resuscitate him. The man was pronounced dead at 10:19 p.m.
The investigation remains active.
