Authorities in Newark are on the scene investigating the death of an unidentified person found in a South Ward neighborhood.
Police were called to the vicinity of Mildred Helms Park on Seymour Avenue and West Bigelow at around 9:30 a.m. to investigate suspicious activities.
Units arriving on the scene found an unconscious and unresponsive male victim around 20-25 years-old.
Medics pronounced the victim dead a short time later.
There are no immediate reports of criminal activity involved in the findings at this time.
Earlier rumors by residents in the area that the victim being a child are false.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
