Blind 65-Year-Old Woman Robbed in Jersey City

Police are investigating a reported robbery after a a blind city woman reported being robbed after returning home from the ATM.

The victim, a 65-year-old blind woman, hesitated reporting the incident after not having a description of the person who robbed her or an exact location, police said.

According to reports, the incident occurred between May 25 and June 3, as the victim walked to the Hudson City Savings Bank ATM on Kennedy Boulevard where she withdrew $40, then walked across the street to a deli, the report stated. 

The woman, who withdrew $40, continued to walk down Fairview Avenue toward West Side Avenue past the parking lot by where she lives, when someone pushed her taking her purse.

The victim told police, that despite being accompanied by her seeing-eye dog, the dog never showed warned her or perhaps even sensed the robber. 

No injuries were reported.
