Residents in a section of Harrison reported seeing a black bear going through garbage in their yards early Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police from Harrison and East Newark canvassed the area of Passaic and Cleveland avenues when they received calls reporting a black bear just before 3:30 a.m.
Officers also checked the area under the I-280 overpass for the bear and found it on top of a nearby roof.
Residents in the area were notified of the sighting.
