It feels absolutely frigid across Newark and the North Jersey region this Monday morning as we wake up to some of the coldest air of the season.
Good morning and happy holidays. If you’re up around 4:30 a.m., temperatures are sitting at 33 degrees on Ferry Street and Monroe in Newark’s Ironbound section, but the wind is making it feel closer to 18 degrees.
If you’re heading to the bus stop early, make sure you have every bit of warm weather gear. You’re going to need it all day.
This morning brings a true blast of Arctic air with a stiff, biting feel across the state.
It’s 31 in Sussex County, 32 in Morris County, 33 in Edison, and just 22 up in Montvale.
We’ll stay mainly dry today, but temperatures are expected to drop even further as the day goes on.
With wind chill factored in, it will feel like the teens for much of the day, so definitely bundle up.
According to the National Weather Service:
Monday will be partly sunny, with temperatures falling to around 25 by 8 a.m. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. North winds 10 to 14 mph, with gusts up to 26 mph.
Tonight:
Mostly cloudy at first, then gradually clearing with a low near 16.
