Bicyclist Killed by Tractor Trailer in Edison

Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L.C. Kuberiet and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department announce today that authorities are investigating the fatal crash that caused the death of a 44-year old bicyclist on Route 27 in the Township this morning.

The deceased bicyclist was identified as Oscar Zanoni, 44, of Metuchen. He was pronounced dead at the scene from the injuries he sustained in the crash.

An autopsy has been scheduled with the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

Lieutenant Dominick Masi of the Edison Police Department and Detective Jason Mendelson of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined at approximately 10:45 am, the driver of a tractor trailer was traveling on Route 27 and struck the victim near Vineyard Road.

Authorities were initially looking for the tractor trailer involved in the crash.

Since then the vehicle and the driver have been located, the driver is cooperating with authorities.
