Bessie Green Community Inc. Hosts First Annual Charity Golf Outing to Benefit Full Belly Project

Newark

Bessie Green Community Inc. hosts its first Annual Charity Golf Outing, “Hole in One for Hunger,” to benefit its Full Belly Project.

“People are defined by the community they live in. Please become a part of our community to help us make an impact on lives in real need. Please help us reach our goal,” Mrs. Jeanette Turner, President of the Board of Directors of Bessie Green Community Inc., said.

COVID-19 had a significant impact on all our lives. Many of their neighbor nonprofits have closed their doors during the pandemic, but Bessie Green Community chose to stay open and expand their outreach.

Established in 1978 to feed the homeless, their founder would have never imagined the growing need for food, clothing and social services for the underserved population of Newark.

Much has changed, including the scope of individuals and families they serve. People need help today more than ever.

Unable to stay open as a traditional soup kitchen, clothing barn and food pantry, their staff and volunteers have found creative ways to help our neighbors in need during the pandemic.

They continue to pursue the fulfillment of our mission to provide food, clothing, diapers, toiletries, children’s books and a social worker to provide additional assistance (housing, rental assistance, utilities and needed benefits) to their clients.

The 1st Annual “Hole in One for Hunger” Golf Outing will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and the Shotgun Start will be at noon.

The event will be held at the Upper Montclair Country Club, located at 177 Hepburn Road in Clifton.
