Bergenfield Police Search for Driver in Hit-and-Run Crash

Bergenfield police are searching for the driver of a vehicle who they say injured a 78-year-old woman in a hit-and-run crash last week.

The Bergenfield Police Department received a 911 call Thursday reporting a crash, with injuries, in the area of W. Clinton Avenue and Melrose Avenue at approximately 1:06 p.m.

Upon the arrival, officers found a 78-year-old woman driver suffering non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. She was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment.

According to police, witnesses on the scene described the fleeing vehicle as an older model, blue/green Subaru hatchback, possibly an Outback. Based on video surveillance provided, the fleeing vehicle appears to have front, driver’s side damage, a flat on the driver’s side tire and a spare donut tire for the front passenger side tire.
