A Saddle Brook police officer was struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning while conducting a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 80.

Preliminary information indicated the incident occurred on the eastbound side of I-80 near Exit 62 shortly before 4:40 a.m.
The officer was reportedly outside during the traffic stop when a white four-door sedan struck the officer and continued eastbound, fleeing the scene.
Advanced and basic life support units were requested to respond. The extent of the officer’s injuries was not immediately available.
Authorities were searching for the vehicle involved as the investigation continued.
