Belmont Runyon Elementary School has brought back its popular “Lights On!” summer program , an exciting and welcoming initiative designed to keep Newark students engaged, active, and safe during the break.

Open to students across Newark in grades 4 through 12, the program operates three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday,  from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. And the best part?

Officials said everything offered is completely free.

The “Lights On!” program offers an impressive lineup of activities to suit a wide range of interests. Students can enjoy open gym sessions, soccer games, jewelry-making workshops, DJ classes, a game room, and even personal care experiences, including hair, nail, and henna services, as well as access to a barber.

To ensure no one leaves hungry, each evening ends with a free hot meal for all participants.

Organizers say they are thrilled to welcome both familiar and new faces this season, emphasizing the program’s focus on building community, fostering friendships, and giving kids a safe space to learn, grow, and have fun.
