Belleville Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Clifton Girl

Authorities announced the arrest of a 43-year-old Belleville man accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old Clifton girl.

An investigation by the Special Victims Unit for the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and Clifton Police Department led to the arrest of Eric Lleras who allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl while he was a tenant at her Clifton residence.

Lleras was charged with one count of first degree aggravated sexual assault, one count of second degree sexual assault and one count of second degree endangering the welfare of a child.

His bail was set at $300,000 with a no 10 percent option.

Aggravated sexual assault carries a maximum term of 20 years with 85 percent of the sentence to be served before parole.

Sexual assault carries a maximum term of 10 years and endangering the welfare of a child carries a maximum term of 10 years.
