Bed Bugs Close South Orange Library

South Orange

The South Orange Public Library announced that after an inspection of the building, prompted by recent bug bite complaints, bed bugs were found.

According to the South Orange Public Library staff, after complaints received from a patron of bug bites, the facility arranged for a licensed extermination company to inspect the library Tuesday, June 28th.

The extermination professionals confirmed the presence of bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) in some of the upholstered furniture at the library.

As a precautionary measure, the Library closed early.

Extermination treatment was arranged and therefore the Library must remain closed.

The library remained closed today, June 29th for treatment.

"The Village apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the Library closure and is diligently working to have the situation remediated by licensed professionals as soon as possible."
