A 39-year-old woman was arrested after she allegedly drove drunk with her 5-year-old son in the backseat.
Police responded to 31st Street and Avenue C at approximately 5:53 Monday afternoon for a report of a crash.
Upon arrival, police determined that a green Jeep, driven by Jennifer Ciaglia, fled the scene after crashing into an unoccupied Toyota pickup truck. Ciaglia However according to police, Ciaglia only made it to Kennedy Boulevard, where she colliding with a Chevy pickup truck that was reportedly waiting at the light.
Ciaglia was transported to Bayonne Medical Center with what police described as minor injuries. Her son, who was secured in a child restraint seat, was uninjured.
The driver of the Chevy truck was also uninjured.
Ciaglia was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child.
She was also issued summonses, including DWI in a school zone, expired vehicle registration, leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving.
