Bayonne Man Pleads Guilty to Fatal Jersey City Shooting

A 38-year-old Bayonne man accused of killing a man in a Jersey City last year after an argument allegedly over a woman, pleaded guilty this morning.

Peter Ruiz who was initially charged with murder has been charged with the aggravated manslaughter of 34-year-old Orlando Flores.

On July 5, 2015, police responded to 22 Fleet Street where they found Flores suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, where he was pronounced dead at 2:45 a.m. on July 6, officials said.

Investigations into the fatal shooting allegedly revealed that Ruiz had an argument with Flores on the phone over a woman and as a result ultimately met up with him.

Flores was later found dead.

With Flores' aggravated manslaughter plea, he can face up to 15 years in prison for the , with no chance of parole before 85 percent of the time is served.
