Bayonne Staten Island

A Bayonne man, working with the United Parcel Service, was pinned in a Staten Island crash Monday morning.

Shortly after 9 a.m., the UPS driver, later identified as 40-year-old Tom Ryan, was unloading packages from the truck when a Toyota Camry struck him near the 2000 block of Hylan Blvd.

The driver of the Camry said in attempts to avoid striking a pedestrian, he swerved off and lost control striking Ryan.

Ryan was transported to Staten Island University North Hospital and then he was transferred to Bellevue Hospital, according to police.

The extent of his injuries and or his condition were not immediately available.
