Bayonne Man Flees Deli After Underpaying, Returns to Assault Employee

A 23-year-old Bayonne man was taken into custody after he allegedly left a local deli without paying and then returned to assault a store employee.

Police charged Giovanny Alfaro, 23, with robbery. Following a search, police charged Alfaro with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and other drug offenses.

According to authorities, on Jan. 5th Alfaro entered the Broadway deli and fled after underpaying for items he wanted to purchase.

Officials say Alfaro later returned to the store and following an altercation punched the 47-year-old store employee in the face and fled the store again.

Authorities arrested Alfaro on January 8th at approximately 3 p.m. in the area of 25th Street.
