Bayonne Man Charged in Hit-and-Run That Left Byciclist Seriously Injured in Jersey City

Hudson County authorities announced that on Wednesday, September 20, members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run collision that seriously injured a bicyclist on July 24, 2022, in Jersey City.  

According to officials, Joseph Emmons, of Bayonne, is charged with Endangering an Injured, a third-degree crime; False Report to Law Enforcement Authorities, a fourth-degree crime; and Tampering With Physical Evidence, a fourth-degree crime.

Officials say he was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and released pending his first court appearance scheduled for Friday, September 29.

On August 1, 2022, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a 64-year-old male patient at Jersey City Medical Center who was involved in a hit-and-run incident and suffered serious injuries.

The investigation found that the victim was riding a bicycle at approximately 12:30 a.m. on July 24, 2022, in the area of Kennedy Boulevard and Terhune Avenue in Jersey City when he was struck by a red Hyundai automobile and projected into a parked vehicle.
