A Bayonne 34-year-old accused of trying to rape a 17-year-old girl Friday night was taken into custody.
Police responded to a West 45th Street residence shortly before 10 p.m. after Owen V. Jefferson attempted to forcibly have sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old acquaintance.
According to police, Jefferson was apparently under the influence of PCP.
During a struggle with Jefferson, a police officer's face was cut. No other injuries were reported.
Jefferson’s bail was set at $100,000 and was charged with criminal attempt sexual assault, aggravated assault, possession of cocaine, PCP and drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
