The 31-year-old Basking Ridge native was one of the seven Marines killed off the coast of Florida, according to the Marine Corps.
Marine Corps. said Tuesday at approximately 8:30 p.m., Shaw was in a Black Hawk helicopter that crashed during a training exercise. The crash killed a total of seven Marines and four National Guard soldiers.
Capt. Stanford Henry Shaw III graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2006. Shaw III served two tours in Iraq.
