Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect who was reportedly armed when he barricaded himself inside a home in Newark then manage to escape.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to an address in the 200 block of South 7th Street at 10 p.m. to investigate reports of an armed man inside an apartment.
Police say as officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, they believe he exited the building through the fire escape.
Officers on the scene received assistance from NPD1 helicopter as they searched the area for a black male suspect who was last observed wearing a blue jean jacket with patches and blue jeans.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
