Barnegat Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Sleeping Woman in Lyndhurst

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of 35-year old Pedro A. Castillo-Valdes of Barnegat, on charges of 1st degree aggravated sexual assault and 2nd degree sexual assault.

A female reported to the Lyndhurst Police Department that early Friday morning she was sexually assaulted in her residence by a male acquaintance while she was sleeping.

An investigation ensued by the Lyndhurst Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit revealed that Castillo-Valdes approached the female while she was asleep and sexually assaulted her. She was awoken during the assault.

Based on the investigation and interviews, Castillo-Valdes was charged with one count of aggravated sexual assault and one count of sexual assault.

His bail was set at $100,000.00 with no 10 percent option and he was ordered to have no contact with the victim or her family and must surrender his passport as conditions of his bail.

Castillo-Valdes was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.

He is scheduled to make his first appearance on Apr. 29, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in Central Judicial Processing Court.
