Baltimore Man Charged with 2019 Jersey City Murder

Officials say on February 28, members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit arrested and charged Tavon Parker, 35, of Baltimore, Maryland, in connection with the November 2, 2019 murder of Sirheen Walker in Jersey City.

According to police, he was arrested without incident in Windsor, Maryland with the assistance of the Baltimore County Police Department

Parker, who is being held in Maryland pending an extradition hearing, has been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3A(1)(2), a first-degree crime; Possession of a Weapon (firearm) for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4A(1), a second-degree crime; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (firearm) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5B(1), a second-degree crime.

According to police, on November 2, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Bergen and Lexington Avenues in Jersey City.

Responding officers did not find a victim at that location, but later were notified that Sirheen Walker, 30, of Jersey City, had been transported from the scene by private vehicle to the Jersey City Medical Center. Walker was pronounced dead at approximately 12:45 a.m.

The cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was determined to be homicide police said.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Baltimore City and Baltimore County Police Departments for the investigation and arrest.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).
