Residents across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to the first official morning of fall with cool, refreshing conditions that still carry a touch of summer warmth.
As of 4:30 a.m., it was 66 degrees at Munn Avenue and South Orange Avenue in Newarkâs West Ward, a slightly warmer start compared to Monday morning.
Despite autumn officially arriving Monday afternoon at 2:19 p.m., forecasters say today will bring above-normal temperatures, offering a summer-like feel for much of the day.
According to the National Weather Service, skies will be mostly sunny, with highs reaching near 83 degrees.
NWS meteorologist said there is a slight chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., followed by the possibility of isolated thunderstorms later in the evening.
Tonight, skies will turn mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and a low around 67 degrees.

Enjoy the warm stretch while it lasts, NJ , autumn may be here, but summer seems determined to give us one last treat.
