Authorities Seek the Public's Help in Identifying Body of Woman Pulled from Passaic River in Newark

The New Jersey State Police is seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the remains of a deceased woman recovered from the Passaic River in Newark.

Police said on April 22, 2013, the body of an unidentified black female was recovered from the river by the Newark Police Department.

The female was wearing thermal clothing with distinctive Ethiopian jewelry authorities said.

One necklace she was wearing was a chain link with a black cross pendant. Three additional necklaces had multi colored ribbons of red, yellow and green. Hanging from the ribbons were 3 charms reminiscent of Ethiopian crosses.

Each of the crosses had a different and quite distinctive design. She also had metal hoop earrings.

The New Jersey State Police Forensic Anthropology Lab produced a clay rendition from the recovered skull.

In addition, the NJSP Composite Artist Unit produced a sketch of the deceased woman.

The unidentified woman has curly black hair, is 30-50 years of age, 5’4” tall, and weighs 140 lbs.
