Authorities Quickly Apprehend Newark Bank Robbery Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that a man who robbed the TD Bank located at 105 Mulberry Street was arrested at Penn Station some 14 minutes after the robbery was reported.

According to authorities, at approximately 12:36 p.m., police responded to 105 Mulberry Street after receiving a hold-up alarm from the bank.  Responding officers ascertained the suspect’s description and a Newark Police officer and New Jersey Transit Lieutenant located the suspect in Penn Station at about 12:50 p.m.

The officers arrested the suspect without incident. He is identified as 35-year-old, David M. Burton, a White Plains, New York resident, who is charged with bank robbery. 

No weapon was shown during the robbery and no injuries were reported.

Director Ambrose commends the swift response of the Newark Police Officers and New Jersey Transit Lieutenant for their coordinated efforts which led to the arrest of the bank robber.
