EMS rushed a man to an area hospital after he suffered severe injuries after being attacked in Phillipsburg overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police and EMS were called to the vicinity of 365 Chambers Street at approximately 9:25 p.m. after they received reports of an injured person.
Units arrived at the scene to find a badly injured male suffering a severe head injury at that location.
A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was attacked and struck in the head with -what police believe to be- a hammer-like object.
The man was transported to an area hospital where he is reportedly in serious but stable condition according to reports.
Detectives from the Warren County Prosecutor's Officer were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
