Authorities in Newark are investigating a pedestrian strike that left a person dead in Newark overnight.
Details regarding the incident are continuing to develop but according to preliminary reports by officials, police setup a crime scene that expanded several blocks near the Burger King where Broad Street and Broadway connects before 9 pm where they found an unconscious and unresponsive person at that location. The victim was struck by a vehicle according to authorities.
Medics pronounced the unidentified person dead at the scene according to authorities.
What exactly caused the fatal incident is under investigation by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The victim's identity has not been released at this time.
