Authorities in Newark or investigating a crash the left one person dead on an off ramp of a highway in the city this morning .
Emergency responders arrived to the scene and found an overturned vehicle with at least one person trapped inside on Rt. 1&9 near NJ-22 at around 8:30 am.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene officials said.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office detectives arrived to handle the investigation according to Newark Police officials.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
