Authorities in Fairfield are investigating a drowning that was reported at a hotel in the city Thursday evening.
According to preliminary reports, emergency responders were called to the La Quinta Inn Hotel shortly before 7 p.m. after receiving reports of an injured person.
Rescue crews arrived to find an unconscious child who had drowned at that location reports said.
The child was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson suffering critical injuries.
Circumstances behind the drowning in under investigation.
The extent of the victim's injuries could not be confirmed 5 a.m.
