Authorities Identify Irvington Man Struck, Killed by Train in South Orange

The victim struck and killed by train Tuesday night was identified as a 34-Irvington man.

Officials responded to the South Orange station shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a person struck by Train 6343 traveling from Summit to New York.

Upon arrival, authorities transported, Frantz Merisier, to University Hospital in Newark where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing. However, initial reports indicated that the victim went on the tracks and made no attempts to move as the train approached.
