Authorities Identify Dover Man Killed in Rockaway Crash

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Chief Martin McParland of the Rockaway Township Police Department jointly announce an update on the investigation of an incident that occurred on Friday, October 23, 2015 in the area of 2 Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township.

On Friday, October 23, 2015 at approximately 6 a.m., members of the Rockaway Township Police Department were dispatched to the area of 2 Green Pond Road, near the off ramp of Route 80 West in Rockaway Township.

Upon arrival, police found a man who had been struck by a vehicle while he was riding a bicycle.

The victim was transported to St. Clare's Dover Campus hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim in this matter has been identified as Jose Antonio A. Aguilar, 48, of Dover. The Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the cause of death to be multiple injuries, and the manner of death to be an accident.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Major Crimes Unit and the Rockaway Township Police Department continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident. However, there are no criminal charges at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing.
